Other Views of Costa Rica
I thought I would start a page containing some non-animal related posts… In addition to the beautiful wildlife, Costa Rica has many other amazing features: mountains, cloud forests, a vast coastline, not to mention a strong culture. This is a page for photos and experiences from these people and places…
Enjoy!

The Beach
Costa Rica literally means “rich coast”, and for good reason. The country is home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, and over my recent vacation, I had the fortune of visiting one of the best: Manuel Antonio.
Here, within the Manuel Antonio National Park, only a strip of pristine, white sand separates the jungle and Pacific, resulting in the most fantastic beach I have seen…

Mountains
Earlier in the semester, I spent a week at a small farm/biological field station in the mountainous region of central Costa Rica. The harsher conditions on the mountain tops give rise to a more rugged, cooler, arid environment known as the paramo. This is certainly a departure from the warm, wet forests of lower altitudes, but the paramo is just as beautiful. When the clouds clear, you can see all the way to the Pacific!

Oak Forest
This Set of Photos was taken in an old-growth oak forest in mountains of central Costa Rica. This cooler, higher altitude forest is absolutely beautiful, and as you can see, the forest becomes even more amazing when the clouds roll in…

I am impressed with these photographs; they are obviously inspired by a love of nature and the natural beauty of the country.
